The Gideon Foundation was founded in December 2008 by Mr Gideon John Cebekhulu, His wife Kindness Thobile Cebekhulu and Eric Canham but in actual fact, the work of supporting needy families started in December 2005 when Gideon and Kindness used to take groceries to needy families including the morning of a Christmas day. In January 2009, Gideon and Eric successfully registered The Gideon Foundation as a Non Profit Organization with the Department of Social Development. The project was later joined by Pastor Ndumiso Mzolo, his wife Ruby Sebe Mzolo, Sbu Gift Mgobhozi and his wife Bongiwe Pearl Mgobhozi. Our beneficiaries are Orphaned Vulnerable Children who are affected by many pandemic facing our Country. When we open doors for these Kids, we had an overwhelming number exceed 54 but due to shortage of recourses, we ask Our Community Health Nurse to visit their residential homes to ascertain desperate ones and we later resolved to take on 15.
Our daily activities included fetching these Kids from School with our vehicles and taking them into our house to provide them with food, help with School Homework as well as Arts Activities and once our program is done, we transport them back to their homes. This project is definitely not easy to run especially when you run it with your own financial resources and therefore, we had a lot of start and stop until we decide to sell some of our cars to keep it running. These funds helped us to launch the project in April 2009 with an endeavour to expose it to outside donors. This hasn’t materialized so far and we trust God that it will come one day. Gideon as the Chairman, is now raising the funds for the organization through writing books like “ The Greatest Life Changing Testimony Gave Us a Child After 14 Years of Marriage” which published by Penguin and the second book “ The True Worship Song is Withdrawn from the Account of Adversity”. These Kids are now attending Tertiary and therefore, they require more of our support. As a result, Gideon has established the training company called “ GES Training and Development” to assist not only our beneficiaries but the community at large so that they become employable. This passion is close to our hearts and we will do anything to make sure that we contribute towards the betterment of our community.
We want our young stars to shine bright in the future, and for them to help others who are in need.
